Important Security Update for your Macs!

There are known vulnerabilities in Java for Mac OS X that are currently being exploited by malware through certain web sites. If infected with this malware, sensitive data could be transmitted from your Mac to others.

Apple this week released a patch that plugs the security holes and it is available in Software Update. All Macs at SU are running Java and need to be updated. It is very important that you run Software Update on your Mac as soon as possible and install all available updates.

To run Software Update:

1. Click the Apple menu at the top left of your display

2. Choose Software Update and your Mac will check for available updates

3. Click Continue, or Install, to install the updates.

After the updates have installed, Software Update will check again for any additional updates and, if available, you should install those as well.

Next week, IC will push the update to systems that are on campus and have not had the update applied. If you have any questions, please contact the IC Help Desk at helpdesk@su.edu or 540-665-5555.
